Carolyn Mary Kleefeld
Client’s Request:
Author and artist Carolyn Mary Kleefeld asked us to update her old CMS website with a modern WordPress site. She wanted to keep almost all of the existing information on her artwork, published books, biography, exhibitions, news and events, as well as a poetry section, a contact page and links to all of her social network sites. The new site design included:
- Home page with introductory slide show
- an About section with pages for: Biography, Author CV, Artist CV, Multimedia
- a Writings section with pages for Published Books, Forthcoming Books, Poetry
- Gallery pages featuring Paintings, Drawings, and 3 Archive sections
- a Contact page
- Main menu links to Carolyn’s Alchemy Oracle website
- a News & Events Blog
Designer’s Comments:
This project was team effort with the various people who help Carolyn with her publishing, cataloging of artwork, promotion, and other general organization–most particularly Carolyn’s friend and colleague Patricia Holt. Patricia and I worked carefully to take all of the elements on the old site into a modern responsive structure. As a designer, it was interesting to see the transformations, for example, how a previously static page of personal photographs could be turned into a dynamic slide show that automatically adjusts it’s size for a user’s screen. Of particular concern was creating a method of cataloging Carolyn’s artwork into galleries that could very easily be updated or reorganized in the WordPress backend.
